C&C:Online is a community-made multiplayer service which enables Generals, Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3 to be played online after the official GameSpy servers were closed. It is a joint project of fan communities Revora and GameReplays.org and shares its infrastructure with a similar service for the Battle for Middle-earth series, T3A:Online.

C&C:Online uses an external client for launching the games and redirecting them to the C&C:Online server instead of the closed GameSpy one. This is done through hooking the supported games through the launcher, causing the launcher to appear each time the hooked games' executables are run. For Generals and Zero Hour, the launcher often causes issues, so usage of GenTool is advised, as the tool was reconfigured to properly redirect the two games to the C&C:Online server like the launcher does for other games.
The server was designed to mimic the defunct GameSpy servers in functionality. This was done through network capturing during the last days of GameSpy's uptime and fragments of available GameSpy server coding. Currently, the service supports unranked and ranked play with statistics counting, custom map transfer, a buddy system (across all games supported by C&C:Online and T3A:Online) and chat. Automatch is still unavailable.
Macintosh releases of Generals, Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3 are currently incompatible with C&C:Online due to its dependency on Windows libraries.
