Evolution of Evil is the ninth mission of Command & Conquer: Renegade.[1]

Plot[]

After regrouping at General Locke's helicopter carrier, Parker is selected as Sydney Mobius' bodyguard during her assignment to pinpoint her father's location using the Mobius suit's sensors. However, as they arrive, Captain Parker and Doctor Mobius are captured by a large detachment of Black Hand stealth soldiers and stealth tanks. The commando is placed in a Nod prison camp, while Mobius is relocated to a ReGenesis research facility.

At the prison camp, Sakura Obata frees Parker out of his cell and gives him a Falcon pistol. Captain Parker, as usual, goes on a rampage and eliminates most of the prison camp's staff, liberating several POWs and eventually escaping the camp, hounded by Nod reinforcements and the Black Hand. While en route to the research facility where both Mobiuses are located, he discovers an ancient tomb, where Nod were performing excavations in an attempt to ascertain their origins. The tomb was ripe with Nod symbolism and insignia, and dates back at least 1800 BC, as Nod claims.

Eventually, he reaches the research facility and fights his way in, shutting down Nod research programs concerning Tiberium and astronomy as well as their holding cells. Infiltrating the levels beneath the structure, he enters a large network of caves and tunnels, eventually reaching one of the primary ReGenesis research facilities. Upon entering the main processing chamber, he witnesses Sydney being injected with a sedative by Doctor Petrova, now collaborating with Nod, as well as the captured Ignatio Mobius and Sakura in holding cells. Doctor Petrova orders Raveshaw, now transformed into a towering cybernetic giant by the Tiberium infusion, to kill Captain Parker as she leaves the base. The commando manages to defeat the mutant Raveshaw.

While Parker manages to save Doctor Mobius, he has lost Sydney and the damage caused to the room by the fight triggered a devastating uprising from the mutants present in the facility, who proceeds to kill and maim all non-mutant beings. Sakura escapes custody, a fact Captain Parker boasts about.

Objectives[]

Primary Objectives
Escape Prison
You have been placed in solitary confinement inside a Nod Prison Facility. Sakura has been generous enough to free you as a distraction for her invasion attempt. Escape the prison facility.
Infiltrate Research Facility
The scientists are possibly contained in the Research Facility at the far end of the canyon. Make your way to the facility and infiltrate.
Rescue Scientists
Sakura indicates the scientists are held deep within the Nod Research Facility. Infiltrate the lower levels of the facility and rescue the scientists.
Eliminate Raveshaw
Raveshaw has been indoctrinated into project Re-Genesis. Regardless of his lack of cranial capacity at this point, his strength is formidable. Keep your distance and eliminate him quickly.
Secondary Objectives
Disable Helipad
A Nod Helipad is located behind the office complex in the Prison Facility. Locate and destroy it to reduce Apache reinforcements throughout the area.
Disable Station Alpha
The Research Facility is divided into several stations. Disable Research Station Alpha by destroying the Master Control Terminal within.
Disable Station Beta
The Research Facility is divided into several stations. Disable Research Station Beta by destroying the Master Control Terminal within.
Tertiary Objectives
Disable Excavation
Nod is searching for clues to their origins at several locations around the world. This happens to be one of the locations. You have hampered their efforts by destroying their excavation Harvester at this site.
Disable Cultivation Center
In the heart of the Research Facility is a Tiberium cultivation center, where Nod has been experimenting with different methods of Tiberium growth. Destroying the Master Control Terminal within has hampered their efforts.

Notes[]

  • There is a bug where freeing some of the GDI prisoners will have them say random Nod voicelines.
  • Killing an unarmed scientist in the research facility will spawn a Stealth Black Hand soldier nearby that immediately attacks the player.
  • The boss fight with Mutant Raveshaw will random spawn Stealth Black Hand soldiers which gives Raveshaw extra "ammo", as he will grab a soldier and throw them at the player. The thrown soldier will "explode" when they impact the surface, causing splash damage against the player.
  • When hurt, Mutant Raveshaw will go near the large blue Tiberium crystal in the room to heal. Conversely, the player would take 5 points of damage should they be near the same crystal.
