Sarajevo is the eleventh GDI mission and the final mission in Act III of the GDI campaign in Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.

Briefing[]

Kane is making his last stand at Temple Prime in Sarajevo. Your mission is to take out his defending forces, destroy the surrounding compound, and disable the ion disruption towers protecting the temple complex from energy weapons. Knocking out the disruption towers will open up options for GDI Central Command now that the Ion Cannons are nearly back online. However, be aware that Kane and his Science Ministers have been working on a Liquid Tiberium device of considerable destructive power within Temple Prime. It is imperative that you do not use the Ion Cannon on Temple Prime yourself without authorization. An Ion Cannon strike could detonate the Liquid Tiberium in the Temple and set off a chain reaction in the large Tiberium fields found throughout this Yellow Zone - the resulting blast would be massively destructive and may kill millions. This is a decision that will have to be made at the highest levels of the GDI command structure.

Background[]

With the destruction of Nod's supply base in Albania, GDI was finally ready for an assault on Temple Prime itself. However, according to intelligence leaked by Alexa Kovacs, the compound is protected by several Ion Disruption Field Generators, preventing an ion cannon strike. Therefore, the GDI Commander was tasked with destroying these devices and delivering the final fatal blow to the Brotherhood that had irked GDI for so long.

Events[]

A small strike force was dispatched to Temple Prime under the command of the famed GDI commander. With this being the final push to finally put Nod in the grave once and for all, the commander was given access to GDI's entire arsenal. While constructing his base, the commander's forces came under attack several times by the Nod defenders, who deployed everything - even the fearsome Avatar - in an effort to evict the interlopers from the area. Nevertheless, the commander managed to repel all of these attackers and, after securing his base, began planning an assault on Nod's last, and best-protected, stronghold on the globe.

Previously acquired intelligence (unknowingly leaked to GDI by Nod's own General Kovacs) indicated the location of the three Ion Cannon Disruption Field Generators, which, as the name suggested, prevented the usage of the Ion Cannon on the area they protected. To destroy them, the commander was forced into a long and gritty battle, where his forces faced Nod's best technology and impassioned and desperate defenders at every turn within the fortress' walls. Nevertheless, the GDI commander prevailed in the end, and managed to damage the Generators beyond repair.

With the Generators destroyed, GDI Director Redmond Boyle ordered an Ion Cannon strike on the temple itself. He hoped that, by completely obliterating Nod's last stronghold with GDI's signature weapon, the Brotherhood would be dealt a crushing morale blow while also cementing GDI's status as the greater world power. However, unbeknownst to both Boyle and the commander, the Brotherhood's leader, Kane, had been counting on the usage of the Ion Cannon in his plan, and had already left by the time the superweapon had been fired. What had remained, however, was one volatile Liquid Tiberium bomb, which, when destroyed by the orbital cannon, released a Tiberium-laced explosion of catastrophic proportions that instantly obliterated all troops on the battlefield. Though GDI suffered the loss of all its assets in the Sarajevo theatre, they had at least won the conflict - or so they thought.
