Heresy's Reward is the fifth Nod mission of Tiberian Twilight.[1]
Background[]
By hacking Gideon's command Crawler in the Arctic, Kane determined Gideon's location: a base located within the Giraud-Moebius Tiberium Crater. While Evelyn Rios wished to capture Gideon and place him in front of a tribunal, Kane decided he had other plans. Kane ordered Commander Parker to attack Gideon's base and force the false prophet's surrender and cooperation.
Events[]
Breach[]
“ | I don't know how you've found out about this place but I can assure you, you won't leave it alive... - Gideon challenging the player |
” |
Parker's forces arrived a short distance away from the outskirts of Gideon's hideout and soon breached the perimeter. As the Nod loyalists infiltrated the Separatists' stronghold, Sister Chavra alerted Parker to loyalist POWs who had gone missing in the area for months. Parker's forces eventually rescued the POWs after killing the Separatist units guarding them, and the POWs immediately burrowed underground to escape.
Submission[]
Scans revealed that Gideon's upgraded Crawler was linked to three other Crawlers in the area, and Parker soon found that destroying the other Crawlers had detrimental effects for Gideon's Crawler, such as bringing down its shields. However, after Parker successfully destroyed two of Gideon's three other Crawlers, Gideon attempted to activate the self-destruct mechanisms around his base, preferring death over defeat. Parker raced against time to deactivate the mechanisms by capturing the bunkers housing them before confronting the Separatist leader head-on. Gideon soon met with Parker's forces and was pursued around the base. After his Crawler took significant damage, Gideon ordered his supporters to stand down, and surrendered to whatever fate Kane had in mind.
Aftermath[]
“ | Peace Through Pow... (gunshot) - Parker impersonating Kane before the shot. |
” |
The captive Gideon was shown on live television footage as Parker, acting as Kane's decoy, gave a speech to thousands of Nod followers outside Threshold 19. Unfortunately for Parker, his speech would be cut short by a sniper bullet, nearly killing him. Gideon's fate after this unexpected turn of events is unknown.
