History[edit | edit source]
The British colonised Nigeria in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, setting up administrative structures and law while recognizing traditional chiefs. Nigeria became independent in 1960. Several years later, it had civil war as Biafra tried to establish independence. Military governments in times of crisis have alternated with democratically elected governments.
First Tiberium War[edit | edit source]
In the early middle of the First Tiberium War, Robert Fielding and Francis Weatherell put up a new government made by the transitional President of Nigeria. However, peacekeeping forces arrived and Charles Olivetti says that the new Nigerian government that both the US President and the British Prime Minister appointed is on the verge of collapse and Nod decided to make a coup de tat to put an old government in power to control Nigeria by a political friend of Kane. The GDI forces met the final Nod resistance and clashed inland, but the Nod forces smashed them and arrived in Abuja to officially surrender the new GDI Nigerian government out of power before putting up the old Nigerian government in its place.
The Nod Commander, meanwhile stole the final detonator from the GDI base in Abuja after the battle and killed both the GDI Nigerian Commander plus his GDI Commander in the city. All the detonators are sent by Chinook before the Brotherhood of Nod smashes Western Africa with full force and took more land from GDI forces on the continent.
