|The following is based on the cancelled game Renegade 2 and has not been confirmed by canon sources.|
Background[edit | edit source]
Dilapitated and rusting, the refinery appears to be a massive pile of junk. Yet despite that, it continues to work, refining ore for the struggling scavenger culture that will eventually become known as the Brotherhood of Nod. Ominous is the broken arm of an old Soviet statue, still clutching a broken piece of a hammer in a manner reminiscent of the Hand of Nod.
Design[edit | edit source]
The refinery was created by Chuck Carter as a sort of junk cathedral, which also provides resources to the emerging Nod forces. It was also a presentation of the capabilities of Westwood's engine, to showcase that it can render large locations without a hitch, as the original game was designed around an outdated minimal spec.
Behind the Scenes[edit | edit source]
The building was supposed to appear in Renegade 2, but with the change of focus and later cancellation, it never made it past prototype stages.
