5 infantry units
The School Bus (sometimes referred to simply as Bus) is a civilian transport vehicle featured in several games throughout the Command & Conquer (series) series.
In-game[edit | edit source]
The school bus was featured in-game in both Tiberian Sun and its expansion. It resembles a standard North American school bus. It can carry up to five infantry units. In the campaign, it is assigned a gold-ish yellow team color and white in skirmish appearances (as accustomed to the Tiberian Sun engine). It is capable of running over infantry units; killing them instantly.
The school bus returns in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and it's expansion as a civilian vehicle. It can hold up to five infantry units. Unlike its Tiberian Sun counterpart, it cannot run over infantry units and sports the recognizable yellow paint job. In the Soviet mission Big Apple, it can be mind controlled by Psi-Corps troopers to transport infantry past Allied forces completely undetected to infiltrate the Allied base at the foot of the World Trade Center. If the psychic unit controlling the bus manages to be killed, the units riding inside will remain trapped inside until another psychic unit regains control of it.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In the mission Big Apple, mind controlled school buses (as well as any other civilian vehicle) can travel around enemy units without being fired upon. It is possible that the Allies were not yet aware of the Soviet's psychic technology until it was too late.
- In reality, the school bus should be able to carry 10 even 90 infantry units however, allowing the bus to carry that many units simultaneously could be easily exploited.
