A supply dock is a cache where a large amounts of supplies are stored. It appears in Command & Conquer: Generals and Zero Hour.

Background[]

These bountiful platforms were found on many battlefields, and formed the basis of most military bases during the GLA Conflict. It provides all the necessary supplies to support generals' military operations. By default, a supply dock contains $30,000.

Game Building[]

The supply dock acts as the primary source of income for all players.

These points were where resource gatherers traveled to to acquire supplies; they would then travel back to their Supply Center/Stash to deposit and process them, returning the collected load in credits to the general to fund their war effort. As these were most players' main source of income early on in battles, they were often jealously guarded. AI players, in particular, often set up a supply building along with several defense structures at satellite bases around distant supply docks to minimize interference.

The docks themselves were completely immune to all sources of damage, but contained a finite number of resources. This necessitated either an expansion to another supply dock, or a reliance on secondary funding methods or oil derricks.

Note that only one unit could actually load supplies at any given time, regardless of how many gatherers were nearby.

Trivia[]

  • The supply docks were supposed to be able to be damaged. They all have proper models for the damaged states, and still have coding for healing themselves after a while. This was probably done to introduce another method of sabotaging enemy income, as every previous Command and Conquer game's resource was destroyable by certain weapons, but was scrapped due to the uniquely finite nature of Supply Docks.
    • If the player fired at the Dock, however, the Dock will appear damaged visually, but it will neither be destroyed, nor would the supplies be damaged. The dock can be repaired so that it looks intact once again, but no HP bar will ever be shown.
  • Building a Supply Drop Zone too close to the dock is inadvisable, as airdropped crates can occasionally drift off course; if they land in the center of the dock they will be unobtainable.
  • Because the Supply Dock is a neutral structure, objects such as Colonel Burton's explosive charges could be attached to them.
  • The amount of credits a Supply Dock holds can be adjusted, and often deviates from the standard value in various campaign missions.
