GLA Conflict
After the liberation of Baghdad at the hands of the Americans, US intelligence tracked the GLA leadership to Al-Hanad in Yemen. A squad of Comanches was dispatched to search for the leaders, but a brief pursuit through the city resulted in all of the Comanches being downed by GLA Stingers. The pilots ejected but were captured by the GLA, forcing the Americans mount a rescue operation. Though all the pilots were rescued, the surviving GLA leaders escaped the city.[1]

The GLA classic general Mahmud Abdul-Muhsi hailed from South Yemen. Originally dedicating his twenty year military career to defending his homeland from terrorism, he later joined the GLA, becoming the very part of what he fought against.
