The Alamo, originally known as Mission San Antonio de Valero, is a former Roman Catholic mission and fortress compound in San Antonio, Texas.

History

The compound, which originally comprised a sanctuary and surrounding buildings, was built by the Spanish Empire in the 18th century for the education of local Native Americans after their conversion to Christianity. In 1793, the mission was secularized and soon abandoned. Ten years later, it became a fortress housing the Mexican Army group, the Second Flying Company of San Carlos de Parras, who likely gave the mission the name "Alamo". When the Mexican army retreated from Texas at the end of the Texas Revolution, they tore down many of the Alamo walls and burned some of the buildings.

From February 23 to March 7, 1836 it housed over 250 Texan rebels under the command of William Travis during the pivotal 14-day siege in the Texan War of Independence. All 250 men were slaughtered by the larger force of over 4,000 under Santa Anna of Mexico. However, this defeat only invigorated the Texan rebels, remebering it in the famous battle cry: "Remember the Alamo!"

Several years after the battle Texas was annexed by the United States, the US Army began renting the facility for use as a quartermaster's depot. The US Army abandoned the mission in 1876 after nearby Fort Sam Houston was established.

Third World War

Template:RA2SovietCamp The Alamo was turned into an American fortress in 1972 as a heavily-defended base equipped with many Prism towers and anti-air defenses. The base was used by President Dugan to hide himself from the Soviets. However, the Soviets still managed to find him. The fortress was deemed too well-defended to mount direct attack on, even if it meant capturing the American President. Therefore, the Soviets decided to use Psychic Corps to break into the base instead. They first disabled the base's power, then busted into the base, causing major damage and even destroying the Alamo itself. Dugan, captured and brainwashed, surrendered America in front of Yuri. It Appears as a Skirmish map that can be garrisoned by infantry.
