The Ironside was a large experimental aircraft created by GDI. Intended to be a troop transport, it was essentially a flying wing, much like 20th century American B-2 Spirit bombers. A prototype was being field tested in Blue Zone 8 (Chile), in the same sector where Dr. Alphonse Giraud was located.

During the events of The Doctor Vanishes, a prototype of the Ironside was destroyed by a Black Hand strike force sent to capture Giraud.

Trivia

• The aircraft is likely named after actor Michael Ironside, who played the role of General Jack Granger in Tiberium Wars.
• A transport aircraft named the Ironside transport was to appear in the cancelled TIBERIUM, though it bears little resemblance.
