In order to meet their rising power needs in 2030, GDI developed a new, modular power plant, with the option to upgrade its output with additional power turbines. A power turbine was a small reactor unit that increased a power plant's output by 50% when attached, with a maximum of two additional turbines attached per power plant.
By the time of the Second Nod Reunification War, the technology was upgraded, and the new power plants were fitted with two platforms to mount advanced turbines on. Instead of being added one at a time, these turbines were deployed in pairs, instantly doubling the output.
