This is the tutorial mission of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.

Background

To bring their new commander up to scratch, GDI officers set up a controlled simulation with which they could teach him the basics of command systems. However, these skills were needed much earlier than anticipated...

Plot

The mission is essentially a standard Command and Conquer tutorial mission, for those unfamiliar with the franchise's controls or the new additions made in Tiberium Wars.

The commander assumes command of a small group of Zone Troopers and, under the Instructor's guidance, issues them move orders, has them destroy a set of targets and jumpjet over a nearby chasm. He is then given command of a construction yard, taught the basics of base control, and another GDI commander plays the part of an opponent in a mock battle to simulate a real combat scenario to the newer officer.

After the training session is complete, the new commander meets GDI general Jack Granger, who gives him an assignment that would later spiral into a full-blown war with GDI's arch nemesis, the Brotherhood of Nod.

Trivia

  • Unlike many other tutorial missions of the Command and Conquer series, the troops given to the commander at the beginning are advanced infantry (Zone Troopers require a Tech Center on the field before they can be trained).
  • Though the commander is control of blue-colored forces, in all subsequent GDI missions he commands orange ones (regardless of what the minimap might display).
  • Like the tutorial of Red Alert 2, the premise for the combat scenario is that a friendly commander is acting as an enemy to create a simulated battle. However, like the aforementioned tutorial, killed troops still die normally as though they were dealt a genuinely lethal blow.
  • Tiberium Wars' tutorial technically spans two missions, as in the next one the commander is given more information on base construction and different unit/structure types.
  • As is standard of tutorial missions, this is the only mission in both Tiberium Wars and its expansion, Kane's Wrath, to have no plot significance whatsoever.
